Bacteria find the mouth the fitting condition for their growth since the environment provides them warmth, moisture and plenty of food to feed upon. However, the food particles and residue that are left even after brushing, washing or cleaning the teeth provide the suitable and excellent condition for the bacteria’s fast multiplication and therefore renders them to grow, multiply and increase in fast numbers. Then the residue is formed from the sticky to hard substance after a time locating themselves on the teeth and around the gum area. Bacteria then feed on the plaque and stay deep in the gums causing reddishness, swelling, irritation, and bleeding.
